There Is Only One Way
SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1.Read Nehemiah 7:1-7, 66-73. Do you have areas in your life or in the life of your family that need to be “rebuilt” like the walls that Nehemiah rebuilt? Are there places that you need to return to and go back to the foundations? Take a minute to evaluate your life and take count as Nehemiah did. Discuss.
2.Read Nehemiah 8:1-3, 5-12. The best way to take stock of where you are at or your family is to read the word or “Book of the Law” as Nehemiah did with his people. When was the last time that you read the word with your family or over your own heart? Hearing God’s truth helps us to rebuild things that are broken and it also allows us to grow in our faith. Set a goal for doing this on a regular basis in your own life and with your family. Discuss as a group.
3.Read Nehemiah 8:13-18. When we hear the truth of God’s Word, it sets us free to do the things He has commanded us to do. Discuss a time when you received revelation from His Word and what the outcome was. Did you experience a personal freedom? How did you celebrate it?
4.Read James 5:16 & Nehemiah 9:1-8, 9-18, 26, 28. God isn’t finished with us when we fail, in fact, He urges us to confess our failures to Him so that He can do something great with them. What are some personal failures that are holding you back right now? Discuss the lie that the enemy is speaking to your heart. What is the truth? What do you need to press through in order to see a personal victory over that particular failure?
5.Read Romans 3:23, Nehemiah 9:32-33, 38. Our sin deserves punishment; however, God wants to heal all of our pain and use our failure for His good. God wants to give us His unrelenting love. What personally holds you back from receiving this truth in your life? How can you live a life of surrender? Discuss.
