God What Are You Doing
SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Read James 4:1-4. What are the things that cause personal conflicts in your life, your family, your job? Pastor Dennis asked us to analyze ourselves and self-reflect. Take a minute to think about it and discuss with the group. Are any of those conflicts because you have sought for your own personal gain instead of God’s plan? How can we choose to be a friend of God instead of the world and how will this solve some of the conflicts in our lives?
2. Read 2 Corinthians 11:2-3. According to this passage, it’s actually very easy to be deceived just as Eve was. Discuss a time when you thought you were doing something that was okay with God but you realized later that you were wrong and you had been deceived.
3. Read James 4:5-7, 9-10. God doesn’t want us to be punished nor does he want to resist us. It’s our sin that pushes Him away. Knowing that, and after reading these scriptures, what can we do to be drawn back into a right relationship with Christ?
4. Read James 4:11-17 & Luke 6:37-38. Everything that we do, say, or give is repaid to us in the same way. Knowing this, where are some areas that you can work on that will put you in a better position and relationship with God and others? Since life is so short, what are the things that we should be presently focused on?
5. Read Matthew 6:31-34. In the times we are living in there are so many reasons for worry and anxiety. This passage explains that we are acting exactly like those who don’t know Christ when we behave this way? Does that mean it is a sin to worry or have anxiety? How can we overcome worry and anxiety? Discuss.
