God's Heart for Us
1. Read 2 Chronicles 7:14 & James 5:1-6. It seems history is repeating itself just as in these passages as we see the economy crumbling, people falling apart, and the state of America. Knowing that, and after reading these scriptures, what is God calling us to do? Why do you think we are in the place we are in today? Is this God’s punishment or can God simply use these circumstances to draw us back to Him? Discuss as a group.
2. Read James 5:7-11; 13-15. What is God asking us to do in these two passages specifically as we are enduring trials? Why do you think James mentions patience so many times? If we are truly praying for each other, shouldn’t we be seeing miracles? Why do you think that miracles are so rarely witnessed in todays times? Discuss.
3. Read Isaiah 55:8-9, Hebrews 13:8, 2 Timothy 4:18, & Philippians 1:21-23. God does things His way and in His timing. His desire is always to heal and to rescue us. No matter if we are healed in this life or the next life, God’s ways are perfect. Discuss some reasons why you or people you know may have a hard time with this. Why do we have a hard time understanding God’s ways?
4. Read James 5:16-18, 1 Kings 17:1, & Isaiah 55:11. Elijah prayed and God heard his prayers and answered them. He knew that God kept His word and believed things would happen. How do you think you could change the atmosphere if you prayed and your faith caused healing in your sphere of influence? How do you think that would change the world around you daily? What is currently holding you back from praying that way? Discuss.
