1. Read Jonah 1:15-17. It seems that it is easy to forget how great God’s power is. Jonah had to have an “experience” in order to be reminded. Think back to a time where God had to remind you when you forgot who He is and what He is capable of. Share with the group.

2. Read Jonah 2. Why in the world does it always seem to take a big event in order to humble us to the point of worshipping and crying out to God? In this passage, Jonah is having an encounter with God right in the belly of a whale. Have you ever had a “belly of the whale” experience with God? What was the end result? What kind of prayer did you cry out to the Lord? Discuss.

3. Read 1 Thessalonians 5:17. How is it possible to never stop praying? Discuss some realistic ways you can learn how to pray all the time. Discuss as a group.

4. Read Jonah 2:7-10. When we finally surrender to God, He opens doors for us to fulfill His will. Discuss some circumstances of surrender in your own personal life and how He moved in your life with the group. What would you do different if that happened again now? What did you do well?

5. Read Philippians 1:6. God always completes what He starts. What is God currently working on in your life? What is your hope? What can you personally do to allow Him to move the way that He wants to move in your life? Discuss.
