Prayer At Turning Points

SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1.Read Acts 2:37-47. Prayer is needed even greater during transitional periods of time or “turning points” as Pastor Dennis taught. Discuss why we are in a turning point now. What are some important things that we should be praying about?

2.Read Matthew 28:18-20 & Acts 1:8. Another reason for praying is in order to be prepared for the “Great Commission.” God commanded us to go into the world to preach the Gospel; however, it takes preparation in prayer in order to be able to do it effectively. Is this intimidating for you? Discuss why and what prevents you from sharing the Gospel and/or praying about it.

3.Read Galatians 5:19-21, 22-24. This world is full of people who are bound in many of the issues that this passage discusses and as Christians, our responsibility is to pray that we and those we minister to walk in the fruits of the spirit. Who is your ONE that you have been called to pray this way for? How will you carry that out in a day to day basis? Discuss.

4.Read Romans 10:1-2, 9-14. God’s heart is for all to be saved. If that is the heart of the Father and we are His children, that should be our heart too. Take a moment in prayer as a group to seek God’s face and ask Him how He can soften your hearts and show you those in your sphere of influence that need to know Him. After God has shown you that person(s), pray for them out loud as a group.

5.Read Psalm 34:4-8, John 1:40-45, & 2 Corinthians 6:1-2. We need to realize the gravity of the situation. People who don’t know Christ are facing life and death situations. How can we be more intentional about praying for those who don’t know Christ and reaching them. Discuss.
