Who Are You Listening To
SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Read Genesis 6:5-11. Have you ever done something that you believe broke the Father's heart? What were the consequences? Discuss with the group.
2. Read 2 Corinthians 4:18 & Hebrews 12:25-29. We need to be sure we are listening to the right voice. Who are you listening to? Who or what has your undivided attention? Where can you find the correct voice to listen to?
3. Read Hebrews 12:25b, John 14:26, & Hebrews 12:26-27. When we don't listen to the voice of God, He shakes things up in the world like the flood, global events, world wide happenings. God is shaking the earth even now. Discuss how He has done this in your personal life when you haven't listened to His voice. Did it get your attention? Did it cause you to change your patterns and behaviors?
4. Read Hebrews 12:27-29 & Genesis 12:1-4. God established a covenant to the family of God. Are you currently living within His promise or are you trying to do things in your own strength and understanding as Abraham and Sarah did. What is the consequence of that? Why do we have so much difficulty living within His covenant promise?
5. Read Genesis 12:10-20. We make a mess of things when we don't listen to the voice of God. Take a few minutes of quiet time to ponder and ask the Lord to show you some areas that you are not listening to God's voice in. At the end of this time, confess briefly these areas and pray as a group for the Lord to give each of you wisdom and show you how to live in God's covenant promise.
