SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. Read Luke 11:1 & Matthew 6:5-8. Jesus taught us how to pray in this passage. He begins by explaining the most important prayers are what is in the private moments with the Father. Have you cultivated a secret place of prayer in your life? Do you feel this can be an area that needs some work? Why is it important to pray? Discuss.

2. Read Matthew 6:9. How do you address God in your prayer time? Do you connect with Him relationally? What is your relationship with Him? How do prayer and worship go hand in hand?

3. Read Matthew 6:10. How do you pray for the will of God? What happens when His will doesn't align with your will? How can you align with the heart of God?

4. Read Matthew 6:11. Do you depend on the Father for everything? How can we get better at this?

5. Read Matthew 6:12. Ask the Father, "Is there anything I have done today that is offensive to You?", "Is there anyone I need to forgive or be forgiven by?" Receive and give that forgiveness.

6. Read Matthew 6:13. Are there things in your life right now that are causing you to struggle with temptation. Take note of those things personally. Confront those things in battle and ask the Father to give you a way out.

7. Read Matthew 6:14-18. Being with God and never being without Him is our mandate to pray at all times? How can we do that? Why is it important to fast according to this passage? Take a minute out with the group to answer these questions and to ask the Lord to teach you how to pray.
