Preach Scripture To Yourself
SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Read John 3:16 & 2 Timothy 3:16. Discuss why these two scriptures are the foundation of the gospel. We have heard them many times before preached and spoken about and memorized them, but what do they really mean?
2. Read Galatians 2:20, 2 Corinthians 5:17, & John 8:36. How can we crucified with Christ in a practical sense? Talk about a time when you definitely felt like you live(d) a crucified life. What are the “new” things that this passage is talking about? What are some things that you currently need to be set free from? Discuss.
3. Read Ephesians 2:8-9 & 1 John 4:4. Do you catch yourself performing “works” to gain God’s favor and forgiveness. Explain an instance where you do this often. No matter our challenges or obstacles, God is bigger than them. Discuss how this impacts your life personally as a group.
4. Read Romans 8:31 & Romans 8:38-39. People ARE in fact against us as Christians, so what exactly does it mean that “who is against us?” Are there sins that are worse that can separate us from God’s love? Why do we live our lives under condemnation if not? What can we do to live under God’s love and grace instead of condemnation? Why is God’s love so great for us? Discuss the implications of living under the FULL understanding of God’s love for us.
5. Read Philippians 1:6. God never leaves anything unfinished. Discuss some reasons why you may have things in your life that are not yet complete. What are some reasons you still haven’t seen a promise from God fulfilled? Discuss some of the promises that the Lord has fulfilled in your own lives. Encourage each other.
