Life Together
SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Read John 13:34-35. Jesus told us and showed us that the way we show fruit of our relationship with Him is to love others. Discuss some ways that you can go outside the boundaries of the place you are currently comfortable with to show love to others. Do you often feel that you tend to only love a certain type of person? Where do you have issues with this type of love? How can you stretch yourself this year?
2. Read Ecclesiastes 4:8-10. We all need someone according to this passage. Do you currently have someone in your life who lifts you up when you’re down or that you offer that to? Do you have someone to help pull you out of a dark place and tell you the truth? How can we do this better for each other in the body of Christ? Discuss.
3. Read Romans 12:4-5. We desperately need each other. We all have something different to offer. Name same areas you have gifting in that you could offer the body of Christ but you have not yet used. Discuss some ways you can be more connected this year and use those gifts and make a plan in how to do so.
4. Read Galatians 6:1-2. We all need someone when we are walking through difficulties, whether it is from sin or from the difficulties of life. The word “restore” here comes from the Greek word katartizete and it references resetting bones. Our responsibility as brothers and sisters in Christ is to help make something whole and functional again. We can help each other come to this through repentance and helping them return to living a Holy Spirit life. What are some ways that you have restored others? Discuss some times someone has restored you. How can we, as a church body, do this better?
5. Read James 5:16 & Proverbs 27:6. It’s an incredibly vulnerable place to discuss your sins to another person. When we choose someone to do this with, we need to be sure we choose those who will pray with us so that we can be restored to our Father. After reading Proverbs, why is it so difficult to discuss these things with others? Discuss as a group.
6. Read Romans 12:4-8. We belong to each other as a church body and yet we are different, with different gifts and purposes. Where do you fit into the body. How can you get plugged in deeper and function at your greatest capacity? What happens to us when we don’t use our gifts? Discuss.
